Fox Motorsport Return To GT3 With Lamborghini

Fox Motorsport will return to the Intelligent Money British GT Championship at the final round of the season at Donington Park later this month.

The team from Maldon, Essex, will field a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo 2 for John Seale and Abbie Eaton in the Silver-Am class at the ‘Donington Decider’ on October 21-22.

The move marks a comeback to the series for the team that has been a race-winner in both the GT3 and GT4 divisions over the past decade; most recently last year at Spa-Francorchamps with an outright victory with a McLaren.

John Seale has been a regular co-driver of both Abbie and of Fox’s Jamie Stanley in recent seasons, and was a class champion in the GT Cup in 2019 and 2020.

He was a GTC class winner on his British GT debut in 2018 but has made only occasional appearances since; the most coming in 2020 at Oulton Park.

Abbie Eaton meanwhile, leapt to global fame as the official test driver on the Jeremy Clarkson-led Amazon Prime Series The Grand Tour, and makes her first British GT appearance since 2017, having claimed the runner-up spot in the GT4 Silver standings in ’16.

Since then she’s been a class winner in the GT World Challenge Europe and a was regular points-scorer in the W Series.

This year she has raced in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe, in which she has been a podium finisher.

Abbie had her first taste of the Fox Motorsport GT3 Lamborghini at Donington Park on Tuesday this week while John had completed several earlier test outings with Jamie.

John Seale said: “Donington’s going to be good fun. I’ve had a couple of days in the Evo 2 Lamborghini and I’m still dialling myself in, but it’s a beautiful car to drive and I’m looking forward to getting as much practice as possible before we race it. Fox Motorsport are a race-winning team and Jamie Stanley, who has been racing with me for years, is heavily involved here so that makes it an ideal fit. Jamie’s not available for the weekend, so I’m very happy to have Abbie standing in. We’ve done very well as a partnership before so she’s absolutely the person I’d like alongside me.”

Abbie Eaton said: “I’m looking forward to racing in British GT for the first time in a long while. I haven’t done an awful lot of GT3 racing, but I’ve spent the year in the Super Trofeo car, which has different characteristics, so hopefully it won’t take long to adjust to the Evo 2. I’ve stood in for Jamie as John’s co-driver quite a few times and we’ve had a good number of wins in Britcar and the GT Cup together, and although I’ve never raced for Fox Motorsport, I know the team well. I’d like to thank Jamie and John for the opportunity and see where it might lead in the future.”

Jamie Stanley, Team Manager, said: “John’s a driver I’ve worked with for a long time so it’s great to give him the chance to race a GT3 car with a proven race-winning British GT team like Fox Motorsport. He’s done a good job learning the car in testing and should learn a lot more at Donington on race weekend. A huge thank you to Abbie for stepping in to drive while I’m unavailable. She’s been a brilliant stand-in with John over the past few seasons and together I’m sure they’ll prove to be a good pairing.”

Paul McNeilly, Team Principal, said: “We’re excited to be returning to British GT at the same track where we last raced in the series a year ago. John and Abbie have raced together many times and Abbie’s coached for us so is well-known to the team, and that’s going to mean that the acclimatisation process is much easier and can be focused entirely on the Lamborghini. Although we’ve successfully diversified into single-seaters this year, we are a GT race team at our core and we see our future in both disciplines so we’d hope this can be a first step towards that.”
