Red Bull Caused A Bit Of A Stir On Twitter With Their Belgian GP Tweet

Hehehehehe. This tweet alone has given us our daily dose of entertainment, and honestly, we’re here for it. This season hasn’t produced much spice, so the drama has been left up to fans to produce. Boy, do we do that well! 😂

In case you missed the news that triggered this, the Belgian GP held at Circuit de Spa Francorchamps has been given a contract extension to stay on the calendar through at least 2025.

Great news for F1 fans, and all Red Bull wanted to do was share their enthusiasm, too… but the choice of photo definitely got people talking.

Now, the eagle-eyed fans will have noticed that one of the drivers in that photo is not part of their current driver line-up. Yes, that’s Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo.

The photo is from a much-loved video of the pair from 2017 (when they were teammates at Red Bull) sitting in deckchairs and just having a general chat  – and dance by the end of it.

But what caught fans’ eyes was the timing of the chosen photo.

Over the past few days, rumours of Sergio Perez announcing his retirement at the Mexico GP have done the rounds, all of which seemingly started with a Reddit post. His PR manager weighed in (kinda) on the subject by simply tweeting lots and lots of laughing face emojis 😅

For most of the season, Checo has been under pressure to perform, with much talk of his contract being cut short at the end of 2023 and Ricciardo being placed back in the car instead.

This tweet has only heightened those rumours, with many (very funny) responses:

Of course, we had to get involved too! Such a classic GIF.

The timing of the chosen photo probably wasn’t the *best* idea ever, but if their plan was to drive engagement, it’s certainly done the trick!

P.S – we did have a search for any other photos from Spa with Max and Checo, and let’s just say there are definitely some they could have chosen 👀

A harmless tweet, or something more?

Adblock test (Why?)
