Sean Creech Motorsport (SCM) has withdrawn the #33 Ligier JS P320 from this weekend’s Motul Petit Le Mans.
The move comes after a family emergency for Lance Willsey sees the team stalwart unable to travel to Road Atlanta. Joao Barbosa will be unable to challenge for the Michelin Endurance Cup crown where the multiple IMSA Champion was still in close contention.
The team will now refocus on its 2024 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship program with the #33 Ligier JS P217 with which the team recently completed the first test last week.
The team and car performance there leaves the group highly encouraged with early progress with the effectively all-new machine that is likely to be a unique package within the IMSA LMP2 landscape starting in 2024.
“Obviously we’re disappointed to not do Petit, but Lance’s family is what’s most important,” said team principal Sean Creech. “2023 is in the rearview mirror now. We’re well underway with our 2024 preparations, with the first test of the LMP2 car at Daytona last week – which went very well. We’ll continue testing the car over the next few months so we’re in a good position at Daytona.”
